In addition to the usual reviews and comments you would find on a horror movie blog, this is also a document of the wonderfully vast horror movie section of the video store I worked at in my youth.

DKTM 135

Hello constant readers. I have some great stuff for you today, so let's get right into it, shall we?

Horror In 5 Seconds.

I heard about a great little collective film project called 5 Second Horror. 100HorrorFilms is soliciting directors from all over to submit their five-second horror shorts. From those submitted, one hundred will be chosen and mashed together into one gigantic thirteen-minute shockfest. Right out of the gate, claymation guru Lee Hardcastle offered up his entry, Record Breaker.

Way to set the bar high, Hardcastle! 100HorrorFilms is accepting entries until June 15th, so get shooting. I've definitely got a few ideas percolating, so stay tuned! For more info, check out the submission rules here.

Just Slightly Ahead Of Our Time.

DirtyRobot directed me to this great Tumblr post from Hamilton Beach Blender. It's a vintage ad for Panasonic.

Convincing, isn't it? Although twenty-five years on, we still have yet to be sucked into our televisions.

There's A New Fest In Town.

Niagara Falls Comic Con is happening June 9th this year, and a horror-themed event has just been added called...

This, in itself, is pretty cool, but I'm very excited about the guests of honour attending. It is a Texas Chainsaw Massacre reunion of sorts, with Gunnar "Leatherface" Hansen appearing with the two ladies of the film, Marilyn Burns & Teri McMinn.

Also appearing will be John A. Russo of Night of the Living Dead fame and Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl on AMC's The Walking Dead. I was also very glad to see my buddy Darryl Shaw in the press release, he'll be there promoting Android Re-Enactment. Come by and say hello!

For ticket info, go here. With this, Shock Stock and Fantasia, my calendar is quickly filling up with genre events. And I wouldn't have it any other way!
